FORBURY PARK TROTS

FIELD AND PROSPECTS FOR TO-MORROW THE WALLA WALLA-HAROLD LOGAN MATCH [By St. Cpaib.] Unfortunately the weather prospects for the second day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s Winter Meeting are not good, but the Forbury track has made some wonderfully quick recoveries in the past, and it is yet possible for to-morrow’s card to be carried out on a fair track. Tremendous interest is being taken in the piatch, over a mile, between the Australian and New Zealand champions, Walla Walla and Harold. Logan, which is set down to bo run at 1.20. Under fine weather and good track conditions this would have been the best test between these two pacers, and it was reported two days ago that no fewer than 1,500 persons had booked seats from Southland. Under .the conditions that are likely to exist it will probably be a test of which horse is capable of handling heavy going the better. Harold Logan has never shown a' liking for heavy going, and Walla Walla has never tried it, but his owner maintains that he is such a good horse that he will handle any sort of going. His action is lower with a longer stride than "Harold Logan’s, and that will not be suited to the going if it is anything like it was yesterday. Each owner is confident that his horse will win, and the conditions have not caused any interest in the contest to. he lost, but it will be everyone’s wish 1 that b'oth the climatic and track conditions improve. Excellent acceptances have been received for each of the eight races, and most of the fields include horses that were not started yesterday. This will lend additional interest to the racing. The Tramway Department has made arrangements for a special service, both' trams and buses, direct to the course gates. The first race is timed to start at 11:45, and the following are the acceptances and anticipations of horses that . should be well fancied in their respective engagements 11.4 a TAHUNA HANDICAP. 125sovs. Unhoppled trotters.
