Several hundred Musakhel Mohmands created a panic in the bazaars at Peshawar yesterday when they attacked the police station and attempted to rescue a number of their fellows who were arrested for looting money-lenders' shops. Policemen who were guarding the police station were stoned and injured, upon which the constabulary tired, injuring many of the tribesmen. The Governor (Sir Ralph Griffiths), who is popular with the Mohmands and speaks their dialect fluently, immediately saw the tribal leaders, who expressed regret and handed over the offenders, and consented to pay a fine of £385.
