VIRGINIA TOURNAMENT NEW YORK, April 29. A message from Hot Springs says that the finals in the Virginia State tournament will not be played, following an enforced postponement on Saturday, when Allison and Van R.vn appeared too late for llieir scheduled appearance.

(Received Aluy 3, at 10 a.m.) At the Bournemouth hard court championships in the singles first round Stedman (New Zealand) defeated Samsoni, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0; idare defeated Lysaght, 5-7, 6-1, 6-3. 0-0. In the women’s singles first round Miss Whittingstall defeated Airs Hoplnali (Australia, 7-5, 6-1; Airs Aloleswolth (Australia) defeated Airs F.dttards, 7-5, 8-6; Miss Hartigan (Australia) defeated AUss Burr, 6-4. 6-4.
