STATE TO SHOW ‘FALLING FOR YOU’The popularity of Jack Hulbert’* humour has been proved by his successes in ‘ Jack’s 1 the Boy ’ and ‘ Love on Wheels,’ and he gives further convincing proof of his ability in * Falling For You,’ coming on Friday to the State Theatre. The interest of the film does not lie in the plot, but in the many hilarious episodes in which Jack Hulbert exhibits his powers as a comedian, a contortionist, a dancer, and a brilliant skater. A ludicrous exhibition of ski-ing makes a bright opening to the story, and from then on the fun and humour never slacken. While Hulbert is the mainstay of the film, notable performances are given by other members of the cast.' Cicely. Courtneidge, as a newspaper reporter who is trying to beat Hulbert to a “story” concerning the doings of a sinister arch-duke, gives a lively and enjoyable portrayal. Tamara Desm i» a charming heroine, and reveals herselr as an accomplished skater. Harry, Marsh and Alfred Drayton take other, important roles with ability.
