NO KING FOR ANDORRA
OFFER FROM CHICAGO DECLINED BARCELONA, March 2. The Council-General of Andorra lias decided that Andorra will have no Kings, according to an official statement just issued by that body anti signed by its President, i- Recently .a 'French news agency; announced that a wealthy resident of Barcelona had offered the Council 800,000 pesetas (about £20,000) if it would confer upon him the title of King of Andorra. This story was denied soon afterwards. Now it appears that it was a wealthy resident of Chicago who aspired to wear the Andorran crown and offered for that honour the sum indicated.- ' • . ,- nj ... ■ The statement continues; Ine said proposition was not discussed by the Council or even taken into consideration, as it reveals an absolute ignorance of the Constitution of Andorra.”
Andorra already has two Sovereigns in the persons of the co-Princes, and apart from the constitutional objection, many Andorrans believe that their difficulties with these two have been sufficiently great without the necessity of adding a third Sovereign. The name of the would-be King has not been revealed. ■ ' r
