PREMIER ON NEW PARTY RUMOUR (Per Ukitbd Peess Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, April 28. Asked to-day whether ho had heard of the proposed formation of a now political party, to be known as the Economic Nationalist Party, the Prime Minister stated that the “ mushroom season,” so far as political parties were concerned, would probably be a fruitful one for the next year. There would doubtless bo a good many attempts to form new parties before the General Election. • Asked whether the Coalition Party would champion the proportional representation system of voting now it had . been thrown overboard by Labour, Mr Forbes said that eyen the members of the Free State Parliament, >who had been elected under that system, now opposed it. The New Zealand electors could not understand the system, and the Labour Party had rejected it because it believed the system was of no further use to it.
