INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE EFFORT TO RAISE PRICES. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. ROME, April 6. The International Wheat Committee has been opened, seeking an agreement to raise the price by reducing exports or not selling abroad below a predetermined price. The discussions will be devoted 1 to the progress of implementing the wheat agreement and reporting on the crop situation. The American carry-over will probably amount to 100,000,000 bushels. The Australian wheat area will probably be reduced. Argentina is not restricting cultivation, but Canada will be 15 per cent, lower. Russia will substitute wheat for rye, and Germany will have a slightly reduced area. Britain’s increase of 6 per cent, in the area sowu would lead to a pro rata reduction in subsidy.
