DOMAIN BOARD VACANCY

CITY AND ST. HILDA REPRESENTATIVE APPOINTED Contrary to expectations, some little difficulty was experienced last night at a combined meeting of the City Council and the St. Kilda Borough Council in selecting a member of the Ocean Beach Domain Board to represent the two bodies. Cr W. G. Baird nominated the De-puty-mayor of St. Kilda (Cr A. D. Edgar), this being seconded by Or G. Glue. . ■ A second nomination was then received from Cr J. A. Carman, who preferred that ex-Cr E. Longworth should be the representative. In that he was an outsider, Mr Longworth would do more efficient work. Cr E. W. Hunter seconded this nomination, stating that when Mr Longworth was previously elected to the position he was a councillor In reply to a question asked by tr Begg as to whether two nominations were in order, the Mayor (Rev. E. I. Cox) explained that by the method of receiving nominations it was thought that a difficulty was being got over. A ballot would now be required. Cr W- Shepherd then nominated Lr M Silverstone, and this was seconded by Cr Jones. , r t Upon a ballot being taken Mr Longworth’s nomination was endorsed, and he was accordingly appointed to the at a meeting of the City Council, a letter was read from the secretary of the Ocean Beach Domain Board notifying that the term of office of Crs J. ;B1 Shacklock and .1.
