TO THE EDITOR. gj r) —We seem in New Zealand to be reaching the point where, if a means of communication is to be made, it must be for tourists, must cost a lot, and go through country that will grow nothing. Our unfinished railways go. through country that could grow something to feed the people, country on which many of our unemployed xnio-ht be settled, out it is unforinnately the sort of country that has little interest for the passing tourist. —I am, etc., J AI.
