PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE The monthly meeting lust night was presided over by Mr \V. G. Love, who stated it was very pleasant to see many suggestions from the league being given effect to, and in' all instances improvemeats had resulted.. CORRESPONDENCE. The Town Clerk wrote that the bus manager had agreed to put luggage covers on the rear of railway buses; the railway bridge parapet had, been lowered as desired, and the approach to the upper railway station was to be improved.—The Chairman said the position was more satisfactory in respect ico those matters. It was decided to ask the council to put up a notice at the crossing to show that there would bo no roadway at Mussel Pay until the sand had been cleared away, and that Wickliffe terrace would be used for vehicular traffic meanwhile. Six residents of Dalkeith asked for the league’s assistance in procuring a daily mail delivery in that locality. The residents would place boxes on the borough boundary line.—The Chairman said the position was peculiar in respect to Dalkeith, for in the case of one resident there his front gate was in the borough and his house was in Waikouaifi. The league was in sympathy with the residents, and would help them; and would seek the assistance of the council. GENERAL. It was decided to direct the council's attention to the need for an improved entrance to the old cemetery from the track, and that the gate at the bottom of the cemetery be rehuiig so as to give better access. Members said it _ was a pity that a more suitable tip site than the present one could not be found. One member said the present site was an eyesore and a menace to the native bush in its vicinity.
