In the bout for the hoavy-weight championship of New Zealand this evening Ray Nicol (12.7), of Ohai, the holder. ’ defeated George Singleton (13.2), of Invercargill, on points. A crowded house witnessed a good, even contest, and there was very little between the pair at the finish. The display of boxing was up to championship standard. The preliminary between W. Billisn (11.5), of Wellington, and F, Prendergast (11.11), of Invercargill, was won by Billish on a foul in the third round, after the winner was’down tor counts ol eight, seveb, and eight in the first two rounds.
