OBJECTION TO UNEMPLOYMENT TAX PAY OR “ TAKE IT OUT " ’ [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, February 26. Two brothers —Allen and Louis Batten —were charged at Onchunga with failing to register under the Unemployment Act.’ The representative of the Unemployment Board said both men had persisted in the attitude that they could not register as it was' against their religious principles. The Magistrate: Well, what have you to say? Defendants; We have conscientious objections. The Magistrate; Conscientious objections to paying taxes, have you?—Yes. So has everybody else, but they have to pay all the same, and so will you or take it out. Thej r were fined £2 each.
