FRENCH BANK RATE
INCREASE ANNOUNCED Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. I’AIUS, February 8. (Received February 9, at 1.10 p.m.) The bank rate has been raised from 2} to 3 per cent., presumably to discourage the withdrawal of gold for vbe United States. This move also has deflationary significance, and should bring price levels in France and the United States more into line.
