CARGILL ROAD.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— Cargill road is again being tarsealed on the right of tho tram lino coming from town. Why cannot the left side of the tram line coming from town bo also done? It is in bad order enough to attract anyone’s attention. The residents are very desirous of something being done to abate the dust nuisance, which is very annoying during summer time and dangerous to health besides. It was stated in your issue of February 3 by Mr 1. H. Cahill that he had been informed that the reason the left south, side of this road had not been tar-sealed was a policy one. 1 make bold to say that a complete statement of this policy matter would be received by the residents with great acceptance, as it appears to them that the only policy is one of do nothing and say nothing. Perhaps Mr Marlow will be good enough to explain this policy that compels us,' in the meantime, to bo at war with the dust we have not yetconsumed. —I am, etc., Ratepayer, February 6. / [Cr J. J. Marlow informs us that the tar-sealiug of the portion-of Cargill road mentioned has been considered. As there is a bad camber on the road, it will require grading before tar-seal-iug can be done. The Citv Council has been asked to authorise this work, and this authority is confident that it will be completed in a few weeks’ time.— Ed. E.S.]
