UNEMPLOYMENT
DISTRICT COMMITTEES LACK OF GO-OPERATION BY BOARD [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 8. In a statement to-day Mr M‘Laughlin, national secretary of the National Union of Unemployed, complains of the Nnemployment Board compelling many committees to resign owing to lack of co-operation, and says it seems determined to put local committees out of business and vest control in the hands of the Commissioner of Unemployment in Wellington. In 1931, he says, Parliament clcarjy saw that four men largely domiciled in Wellington could not possibly administer the unemployment fund according to the varying needs and conditions of every area, without the co-operation of district committees, and ho says the solution of the present trouble lies in a complete change of policy by the board, and this can best bo secured by the ' nnemployment committees functioning as intended by the legislation which established them.
