Air Watson Shennan, now of Soufli Australia, has been revisiting the Puketoi Station that fiis father made famous, and left Dunedin for Adelaide this morning. - Air J. B. Shacklock was a passenger for Auckland by the mail train to-day. Captain E. Alaudo Kilgotir, who has been assistant officer of the Salvation Army in Dunedin, is transferred to the Training College at Wellington, and left this morning. Mr J. C. Strong, of Canberra (New South Wales), brought his Dunedin visit to a close to-day, leaving for Wanganui and New Plymouth. Mr O L. Ferens, secretary of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association, left this afternoon for Central Otago in connection with the country organisation of Poppy Day and to discuss with local commitees various matters affecting the welfare of ex-service-men. Mr A. K. Anderson, head master of St. Andrew’s College, has been appointed principal of Scots’ College, Sydney, from more than thirty applicants from England, Australia, and New Zea- f land. Mr Anderson will assume his new position in January, 1935. Scots’ College is the leading Presbyterian boy’s’ college of New South Wales, and one of the State’s great public schools. —Christchurch Press Association. Alessrs W. F. Forrester and O. L. Ferens (representing the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association) and Mr J. L. Salmond (Otago Patriotic Association) will leave for Wellington on February 21 to attend a special meeting of the Central Committee of the scheme under which the sons of deceased and returned sodiers are admitted to Flock House for farm training. Air A. G. Wilson has been appointed to the position of church officer at Knox Church. There were 157 applicants. Alajor-goneral Sir Andrew Russell has accepted the appointment of honorary colonel of the Wellington Regiment. Air L. E. Ruttledge died suddenly yesterday at his home in Rattray street. For a while past his eyes gave trouble, otherwise he was to the last quite a young man in appearance and movement. He had a commercial training, and this was of assistance to him after he became associated with the turf. Years back he owned a race winner nanied Ardnoff, and at one time or another was concerned in several racing partnerships. All who had transactions with Air Ruttledge respected him as “ straight ” in the full meaning of the W’ord, and his gentlemanly demeanour made him many friends. Air James Ruttledge, one of the Wingatui trainers, is his brother. Among the passengers who arrived in Wellington from Autralia by the Alonowai on Tuesday was Dr W. Carmalt Jones, professor of medicine at the University of Otago. Dr _ Carmalt Jones was expected in Dunedin by the express this afternoon. . Other passengers on the Monowai were Dr J. Twhigg and Dr J. H. Beaumont, of Wellington. They were members of the New Zealand delegation, led by Dr G. Home, C.8.E., New Plymouth, president of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, to the Australian Aledical Congress at Hobart last month.
