PAKEHA REACHES LONDON. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company’s Pakeha, which left Napier on December 15, for London via Magallanes and Montevideo, arrived at London on January 31.

PORT ALMA LEAVES NEW YORK. The C. and D. Line’s Port Alma left New York on .January 31 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on February 28, and at Dunedin about March 6. THE TANKER. SOUTH AFRICA. The tanker South Africa will unload bulk petrol for the Texas Oil Company at New Zealand ports, in place of the tanker New Zealand, which will now unload in Australia. The South Africa, which arrived at Auckland yesterday from San Pedro, will proceed to southern ports to complete discharge. PERSONALS. Captain A. Baggett has resumed command of the Foxton, relieving Captain J. Davies. Captain R. M. Kane has taken command of the Tamahine, relieving Cap- ! tain W. A. Gray, who is awaiting orders in Wellington. CAPE COMORIN FROM GALVESTON. The Cape Comorin is expected to arrive at Auckland from Galveston on March 7 with a cargo of bulk sulphur. She will discharge about 1,650 tons at Auckland, and will then proceed to Plymouth. WAINUI HERE. The Wainui arrived early this morning from Melbourne and Bluff with cargo. She was to sail in the afternoon for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Picton. From the latter port she will return to Melbourne via Bluff. She is carrying transhipments from the Maloja, Ballarat, and Talleyrand. ELMBANK COMING. Messrs H. L. Taj)lcy and Co, advise that the Elmbank is due at this port , towards the end of the month. She is to discharge a quantity of phosphates at Ravensbourne and Port Chalmers.

INTERISLAND SERVICE. The interislaud express steamer Rangatira reached Lyttelton from Bluff at 6.45 a.m. to-day. Passengers and mail for the south connected with the express. Information has been received in Australia that the new motor ship ordered in December last by the Commonwealth and Dominion Line Jfor their service between England and New Zealand and Australia, will be named Port Wyndham, after the port on the northern coast of Western Australia. The new vessel, which is being built bv John Brown and Co. Ltd., Clydebank, will be a sister ship to the Port Chalmers, now en route to Australia on her maiden voyage. With a gross tonnage of about 8.800 the Port Wyndham will have a length of 486 ft and a beam of 65ft. In view of the success obtained by this company in the carriage of chilled beef bv the motor vessel Port Fairy from New Zealand to England, with the aid of CO2 gas, in both new ships the special provision is being made in certain compartment? to make them as far as possible gas tight. The arrangements for carrying fruit and dairy produce will be of the latest design. The vessels will have six holds, five of which will be insulated, giving a capacity of 465.000 cubic feet. As the two vessels will be employed by the Commonwealth and Dominion Line in the trade between England, Australia, and New Zealand, provision will be made for the carriage of frozen meat, butter, ,eggs, cheese and fruit, with the varying requirements of each of these commodities. There will be accommodation for twelve passengers in single and double-berth cabins in each vessel.

WALMANA LEAVES LONDON. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company advises that the Waimana sailed from London on January 31 with | cargo for Australia. She will later load at New Zealand ports, being due in New Zealand on March 27. THE ADMIRAL CODRINGTON SOLD. The Balgowen, formerly Admiral Codrington, 10,800 tons dead-weight, built by AVilliam Doxford and Sons, Sunderland in 1918, has been sold to Greek buyers for about £11,500, THE TEES. The Tees is due at Lyttelton to-mor-row morning from the Chatham Islands, and is to sail the same day on the return trip. She will call at I Kaingaroa and Waitangi. VESSELS IN WIRELESS CALL.
