ANOTHER LYNCHING
A NEGRO SHOT ESCORT ASSAULTED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, NEW YORK, January 30. (Received January 31, at 12.5 p.m.)' A message from Tampa (Florida) states that mob violence flamed there early to-day as a crowd of men attacked a deputy sheriff conducting Robert Johnson, a negro, held for an. alleged criminal assault on a white woman. The officer was overpowered and held captive while the negro was taken to a secluded spot and shot down. Later the officer was released after being kicked and beaten.
