CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE ARRESTED ATTEMPT TO ROB BANK Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. WINSLOW (Arizona), January 28. Dilworth Sumpter, an unsuccessful congressional candidate at the last election, confessed, according to the police, to attempting to rob a bank. A policeman surprised Sumpter while he was digging a tunnel into the bank from another building. The authorities found a pick, shovel, drills, and explosives. Sumpter, who is destitute, declared: “ The world owes me a living. Everything I ever attempted Went wrong, and I made the usual mess of this job.”

Sumpter polled more votes than any other Socialist in Arizona’s history, exceeding the Republican candidate, although the Democrat won.
