Alalfroy and Bartleet beat Donohoe and Wilson, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. LADIES’ DOUBLES. Alisses Nicholls and Beverley beat Afrs Melody (Wellington) and Aliss Knight, 6-0, 6-0. WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS [Per Ukitbd Press Association.] WESTPORT, January 28. The West Coast championships, which were interrupted by two days' rain, were continued to-day in glorious weather with a good gallery of spectators. Diamond (Christchurch) retained the men’s singles, defeating Ford (Christchurch) in the final. 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. Aliss Costello (Greymouth) also retained the ladies’ singles title, defeating Airs Walker (AVestport), 6-4, 6-2. Alinifie and Al'Lauchlin (Christchurch) won the men’s doubles from Warner and Pattison (Greymouth), 6-3, 6-2, and Nottle defeated Fowler, 6-3, 6-5, in the final, of the boys’ championship. AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS PERRY BEATS CRAWFORD Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, January 28. The Australian championships were concluded to-day. The finals resulted : AIEN’S SINGLES. Perry defeated Crawford, 6-3, 7-5, 6-1. WOAIEN’S SINGLES. Miss Hartigan beat Airs Alolesworth, 6-1, 6-4. AIIXED DOUBLES. Afoon and Aliss Hartigan defeated Dunlop and Airs Westacott, 6-3, 6-1. The courts were slippery following misty rain. Perry played magnificently throughout and won many points with good-length drives to the corners, forcing Crawford into errors. The Australian’s service was very weak. He

frequently double-faulted. Perry’s anticipation of Crawford’s shots was faultless. Continuing the attack, he ran out an easy winner. An unpleasant incident occurred when Perry was leadings 5-1, in the final set. After Crawford had won the game a spectator cried “ How do you like that. Perry?” Perry turned and said something to the crowd regarding barracking and sportsmanship. Further barracking followed, and then Perry said “ What is this? A cricket or tenuis match?”. The game was held up while the umpire requested order. Aliss Hartigan’s strong forehand shots were too good for Mrs Alplesworth. The latter appeared not to know whether her opponent intended a side-line or cross-court shot, so well were Aliss Hartigan’s strokes concealed. Had Dunlop afforded Airs Westacott any support the mixed doubles result would probably have been reversed. Afrs Westacott was easily the best of the four, while Dunlop’s play was pathetic. VINES DEFEATS TILDEH Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. OAKLAND. January 27. Vinos defeated Tilden, 3-G, 13-11, 6-1, 9-7.
