HAWKE'S BAY RAM FAIR
[Per United Press Association.] NAPIER, January 26. At the second day of the Hawke’s Bay ram fair flock Southdowns, s|ud Romneys, and Southdowns were offered. Jn the Southdown flock, rams’ values improved from 10 to 20 per cent, on last year, but the rise is npt comparable with the ,rise recorded in flock Romneys. The top price of eleven guineas was realised by Mr R. M. Perry, of Masterton, and the average price was from 4gns _ to sgns. In the stud sheep section Romneys appreciated to a considerable degree, the top price being 40gns for a shearing ram, on account of Mr Adam M‘Kay, of Masterton. - Other - breeders realised up to 36gns ; while the average price was in the vicinity of 20gns to 25gns. The demand for Romneys was well maintained and passings were infrequent. ; In the stud Southdowns, Mr W. J. Gimble.tt, of Hastings, realised the top price of 36gns, while Mr A. Vile, of Bulls, obtained 35gns. The supply was in excess of the demand, and values fell away in consequence with the progress of the sale. The prices realised showed a slight improvement on last year’s. Buyers were present from all (over the Wellington province.
