The Rangatira, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.50-a.m. to-day, passengers and mails catching the south express. ASHBURTON FROM AMERICA. Expected in this afternoon from New York and Gulf of Mexico ports via northern ports, the Ashburton brings cargo for discharge here. She is to sail on Monday for Sydney. CITY OF LYONS HERE. The steamer City of Lyons arrived this morning from the north, berthing at the Victoria wharf to discharge cargo loaded at Philadelphia and New York. She will probably sail this evening for Sydney. . . COASTWISE MOVEMENTS. The Kini arrived this morning from Westport via ports to discharge coal and load cargo. She sails on Monday for Nelson and New Plymouth, via ports. The Holmglen is due in from the north to-night, sailing on Monday for New Plymouth and Waikato, via, ports. DORIC STAR TO LOAD. . The Blue Star Line steamer Doric Star, recently overhauled in England, has left London for New Zealand to load for England. She ds due in New Zealand about February 28, and will take the March loadings. / —————— TANKER COMING. The Texas Oil Company’s tanker New Zealand is due to arrive from San Pedro about February 4 to discharge bulk petrol at Auckland and Southern ports. ' THE W AIK AAV A. The Union Company’s transpacific steamer Waikawa, which is undergoing overhaul and survey at Wellington, is scheduled to leave Wellington for Fiji, Apia, and Vancouver on February 15. She will load at Pacific Coast ports .during March and April for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, Melbourne, and Sydney.

TANKER BALAKLAVA. The Shell Company has chartered the 8,036-ton Swedish motor tanker Balaklava to bring a cargo of motor spirit to New Zealand. The Balaklava left Singapore last week, and will discharge at Auckland, New Plymouth, and Dunedin, reaching Auckland about February 5:, . lONIC’S ARRIVAL DATE. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner lonic is now scheduled to reach Auckland from London and Southampton on February 10 instead of February 7. The vessel has passengers and mail for New Zealand and cargo for discharge at Auckland and Wellington. BREEZE DUE ANY TIME. The Canterbury Steam Shipping Company’s new motor _ cargo vessel Breeze is expected to arrive at Dunedin ait any time now from Glasgow via Cape Town. ! The Breeze is fitted with short range wireless, hut no message has yet been received from the captain stating the probable time of arrival. The vessel is on her maiden voyage, and after discharging bark loaded at Cape Town will .proceed to Lyttelton. MOTOR SHIP MAUI POMARE. Fine weather was experienced by the Government motor ship Maui Pomare, which arrived at Lyttelton on. Wednesday morning from Apia and Niue. The vessel brought 4,500 cases of bananas from Apia and 2,000 cases from Niue for discharge at Lyttelton, and 2,300 cases from Apia and 200 from Niue for discharge at Wellington.
