CALEDONIAN SPOUTS
A meeting of the Games Committee of the Caledonian , Society .of Otago was held, when the programme of ’events for the society’s forthcoming sports meeting was fully discussed. Representatives of the various sporting bodies in the city were present. Mr Finer, president of the Otago Wrestling Association, stated that his association would, be pleased, to assist the Caledonian. Society in any way, .and he wished the society every success. The afternoon programme will be run in coniunction with the Otago Centre Hew Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. Numerous athletic events will be held, and attractive _ displays of Highland piping and dancing and amateur wrestling will also he included. in , the programme. In connection with the interhouse events., a suggestion was put' forward to include a bowling competition. This event, a trophy for which' has been nresented by the president (Mr John Hope’/,'will, no doubt, interest lady cricketers. _ _ In tho evening the intention is, to bold a dance on the grounds. Prior to the dance it is proposed' to present an entertainment. in this programme will be professional, athleti* events for both runners and cyclists,Highland piping and dancing displays, and in all probability songs and items by a,Maori entertainment party. Tho arrangements for drawing up the entire nroarammo are in the hands of Mr W. J. Bennett, while Mr T. Gilchrist. will : again act" in the capacity of musical director. It has mit yet he</i .possible - to make definite arrangements for the secondary school events, this matter will bo discussed at the next meet- % ing. ■ ’
