ARRlVED.—January 27. Ashburton, s.s. (1.15 p.ni.), 5,047 tons, P. Crickmer, from New York via Gulf of Mexico and northern ports. SAILED. —January 27. Narbada, s.s. (11.30 a.in.), 8,988 tons, W. W. Render, for Bluff. The Narbada, after being cleaned and painted, came out of dry dock today at Port Chalmers, and sailed for Bluff to put out the balance of her Eastern cargo, after which she goes to Newcastle on her return trip to the East. The Remuera was conducting lifeboat drill this forenoon at Port Chalmers. All the boats on the ship’s side opposite the wharf were launched, manned, and pulled about the.harbour. At the next port she will berth with her other side to the wharf, and the balance of her boats will be launched for practice drill. The City of Lyons is to sail this evening for Sydney. Forecast. The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern district—-Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Half moon Bay : A slight anti-cyclone now covers New Zealand, and the difference of pressure between the north and south is very much reduced. A slight westerly depression is located over the Western Tasman Sea, and will probably deepen as it moves eastward. Forecast: Light to moderate westerly winds, veering gradually to north-west and freshening; weather mainly fair to fine, with warmer temperatures, but showers likely in southern coastal districts; seas smooth to but increasing later in Foveaux Strait. WYATT EARP RETURNING. The Wyatt Earp, which is on her way here from the ice, will on arrival be welcomed back by hoists of flags on the Harbour Board station at the Heads, also on the board’s offices at Port Chalmers and Dunedin. The flags will bo hoisted ' when the vessel is sighted at the Heads. RANGITIKI AT KINGSTON. The liner Rangitiki, from London, arrived at Kingston on January 25. She is due at Wellington on February 15. TELEGRAMS AND CABLES. WANGANUI, January 27.—Sailed: Calm (11.20 a.m.), for Dunedin.
