AUCTION OF BUSINESS SITES (Pee United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, January 24. A city property known as Island Block, with frontages, to four streets, including Manners and Bond streets, was offered for sale by auction to-day. The Government valuation of the property is £54,000. The block was first put up as a whole. Bidding started at £31,000 and went up by £I,OOO bids to £34.000, when the auctioneer offered to accept £SOO bids, none being.forthcoming. The property as one lot was then withdrawn. and a lot facing Manners street was put up separately. It drew an initial bid of £20,000 and one of £21.000. When bidding reached £21,500 it was withdrawn for private sale. A lot facing Bond street went up- to £12,000 before being withdrawn. •
