(6.20 a.m.), 5,916 tons, ■ E. E. Rowe, for Newcastle. COASTAL MOVEMENTS. Poolta arrived this morning from Wellington, and is to sail to-night for Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton to commence loading for Napier and Gisj borne. Port Whangarei arrived to-day from Lyttelton, and is to sail to-night for Wellington, Tauranga, Auckland, and Whangarei, via ports. Wingatui, which 1 left Lyttelton yesterday, is due here to-morrow, and sails the same day for Bluff. She is expected to arrive again on Sunday, and will load on Monday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Timaru, Wellington, and Auckland. Kuri from northern ports is due on Saturday to unload coal from Westport. She loads on Monday for Nelson and New Plymouth via ports. Waipiata leaves Auckland to-morrow for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Bluff. She is due here on Wednesday, January 31. Waikouaiti, which left Bluff on Tuesday for Sydney, ■ is to leave from there again on January 31 for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru, and Lyttelton. Holmdale is due at Dunedin on Monday from Wellington, and is to sail the same night for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. Calm is due from Wellington on Monday to load for Timaru. Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. CANADIAN LEADER COMING. The Canadian Leader is due at Dunedin about January 31 from Montreal via Australian ports and Lyttelton to discharge Canadian cargo. She will sail hence for Bluff to complete discharge and load produce. The vessel will return to Dunedin to continue loading, and will sail finally from this port for New York, Boston, and Montreal. TAMAROA FOR AUCKLAND.

1 The Shaw. Savill and Albion Company’s liner Tamaroa was to leave London to-day for Auckland. Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers. She is due at Auckland on February 28. WAINI7I TO LEAVE MELBOURNE. The Wainui left Bluff on Monday for Melbourne. She is to leave the latter port on January .31 for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington, and is due at Dunedin on February 6. ABEL TASMAN FROM AUSTRALIA. Messrs Keith Ramsay Ltd. advise that the intercolonial steamer Abel Tasman is now due at Dunedin on Saturday from Australia via northern ports to discharge general cargo. The freight includes transhipments ex the Changtee and Atsuta Maru. The Abel Tasman will sail on Monday for Bluff to complete discharge. She will later proceed to Westport and Sydney. PERSONAL. The death of Dr James A. Mason, ship’s doctor on R.M.S. Niagara, was referred to by officers of the liner when she arrived at Auckland on Tuesday morning. Dr Mason took ill with heart trouble on December 18. and died the

next morning. The Niagara was then three days out from Honolulu on her way to Vancouver. He was buried at sea on the morning of the 20th at 7.30, the commander (Captain T. V. Hill) conducting the service. Dr Mason had been four months on the Niagara, and had served for about a year with the company. His place has been taken by a Canadian doctor, Dr A. N. Beattie. The Niagara is his first ship. Mr E. R. Hanson lias been engaged as second engineer on the Inaha, replacing Mr J. Humphrey. Captain Duncan MacDonald has rejoined the R.M.S. Makura after holidays, relieving Captain W. Martin, who has gone to Sydney on leav. Contain A. W. Creese has taken command of the Wingatui, relieving Captain E. R. Low© for holidays. Captain J. Ranking, late of the Waikouaiti, is at present awaiting orders in Wellington. Captain R. L. Davies, of the Kekerangu, is,now on holiday leave in Newcastle. INTERISLAND SERVICE. The interisland express steamer Rangatira arrived at Lyttelton at 6.50 a.m. to-day. Passengers for the south connected with the express. WAITANGI WHARF. The completion of the wharf at Waitangi, Chatham Islands, is at present held up pending the arrival of the metal shoes for the piles and the remainder of the hardwood for decking. The hardwood is aboard the steamer Abel Tasman, which arrived at Lyttelton this morning from Australian ports via Auckland and Wellington, and will be shipped by the Tees on her next trip, leaving Lyttelton about Wednesday. REMUERA TO SAIL. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Remuera, which arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday, is to sail at 6 a.m. on Sunday for Timaru to discharge the balance of her cargo. NARBADA TO SAIL. The Narbada, which docked at Port \ Chalmers yesterday for cleaning and I painting, is to sail on Saturday for j Newcastle. TYMERIC SAILS. The sulphur boat Tymeric sailed last night from Port Chalmers to put out the balance of her sulphur cargo, after which she will probably load for the East. VESSELS IN WIRELESS CALL.
