LONDON, January 19., (Received January 20, at Ip.m.) Lord Halifax, the oldest peer in the realm, and father of the Minister of Education (Lord Irwin) died this evening at Doncaster in his ninety-fifth year, [Viscount Halifax was a son of the first Viscount Halifax, whom he succeeded in 1885. He was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford. He was Groom of the Bedchamber and a personal friend of the Prince of Wales, afterwards King Edward VII.. For half a century he was president of the English Church Union, and leader of the “Catholic” Party in the Church of England.]
