VARIOUS APPOINTMENTS I. ' (British Official Wireless.) ■ Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. RUGBY, January 18. (Received January 20, at 1 a.m.) Sir Evelyn Murray, who has been Secretary to the General Post Office for twenty years, has been appointed chairman of the Board of Customs and Excise in succession to Sir Edward Forber, who has been appointed chairman of the Board of Inland Revenue. The appointments will take effect in the spring, when Sir James Grigg, the present chairman, of the Board of Inland Revenue, assumes office as Finance Minister of the Executive Council of the Governor-General of India.
Sir Evelyn Murray’s successor at the Post Office will bo Colonel Banks, who is now Controller of the Savings Bank Department. He is to be styled Direc-tor-General of the Post Office. Mr T. B. Gardiner has been appointed Deputy Director-General.
