It is known locally as “ Joe’s Went,n Nobody knows who Joe was or why the well was named after him, but there is a belief that the water cures rheumatism and skin diseases. No “ cures J have been reported. . • The well is the water supply for, washing purposes, in the Bow Hill district# and it is as a result of complaints of people living there that action has been taken. Bradford Corporation Parks Committee has decided to-grant Baildon Council permission to do what it can to keep the water clean, either by fencing in the well or covering it. ’
