The Geneva correspondent of ‘The Times ’ interviewed Mr Arthur Henderson, who admitted that the disarmament situation was both difficult and obscure. A great deal would depend on the German reply to the French aide memoire, and he would 1 not hesitate to advise a further adjournment so that nothing might be done to prejudice direct Franco-German negotiations. If the reply was definitely unfavourable thp bureau might decide that it was undesirable to continue the conference and summon a meeting for a declaration to that effect. This possibility had to be considered.
