AUSTRALIAN ATHLETES OTAGO SELECTORS APPOINTED At a meeting of the Sports Commitee of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association last night the centre secretary (Mr T. M. Brydone) announced that advice had been received that the Australian team, including the field champion J. P. Metcalfe, would appear in Dunedin on February 24, and the matter of making arrangements for a ground was left in the hands of the president (Mr E. L. Mncassey). The programme for the Otago track and field championships in February was drawn up, and is the same as last year, with the addition of a ladies’ high jump championship, a 220yds low hurdles championship, and 220yds B grade and one mile B grade championship in place of the two handicap events. The cycling championships are being conducted by the Otago Amateur Cycling Centre, but half-mile and one mile cycling handicaps have been included on the programme for February 3. Messrs E. L. Macassey, W. J. Bennett, and B. H. Rosevear were appointed a Records Committee for the championship meeting. The following were appointed as the Selection Committee for the Otago team for the New Zealand championships:— Messrs E. L. Macassey, E. C. Isaacs, and B. R. M'Kernan. ■ The running events for the cycling championship meetings were fixed as follow:—February 5, 100yds and one mile handicaps; February 6, 300yds and li-mile handicaps. It was decided to forgo competitors’ passes for the Otago championships and to appoint a steward to collect entry fees at the competitors’ gate. It was reported that sixteen athletes would be going from Dunedin to compete at the Southland championships to-morrow. HANOVER BAPTIST CLUB The Hanover Baptist Harrier and A.A. Club, in its initial efforts to organise track championships for its members, was not favoured by the weather, the meeting being held over a period of three evenings, with senior and junior events on the track, and open field events.
