WANGANUI WOOL SALE
CONTINENTAL BUYERS ACTIVE BIG RISE ON LAST YEAR'S PRICES [Per United Press Association.] WANGANUI, July 19. The wool sale was attended by large numbers of farmers and members of their families. A greater crowd of farmers, had not been seen here for many ‘ days. The first catalogue received the full strength of. Continental bidding, but it was noticeable towards the end' that the catalogue prices receded somewhat owing to some buyers receiving cables- which evidently reduced their limits. Competition from Japan was not conspicuous, and Bradford was not able to compete with the Continent as buyers, who domineered the sale. France obtained most of the lambs’ wool. Fine neck pieces realised wonderful prices, and IBJd was obtained by one client. An instance of how the sale went, wool that realised 7Jd last year was sold at 18Jd to-day. Generally lower’ grade wools realised up to the Wellington prices, and there was keen bidding for finer lots.
