RANSOM DEMANDED

WEALTHY AMERICAN KIDNAPPED THREAT OF DEATH UNLESS PAYMENT MADE Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. .NEW YORK, January 18. (Received January 19, at-1.45 p.m.) A St. Paul (Minnesota) message states that kidnappers are demanding 200,000 dollars ransom and are holding Mr Edward Bremner (36), a banker, and a scion of a wealthy family controlling large brewing interests, under penalty of death. The police revealed to-day that Mr Bremner was abducted yesterday while motoring to his office. Two hours later ransom negotiations opened with mysterious telephone and written messages to Mr Bremner’s business associate directing him how to pay the money, the details of which are withheld.

The case closely parallels the recent kidnapping here of Mr William Hamm, for which the members of the Touhy gang are now on trial.
