(Received January 18, -at 11 a.m.) Sweeping along a large front, a bush lire in the Devonport district threatens the homes of the settlers, all of whom have left their properties. So far the efforts of about 300 fire fighters to check the blaze have failed. Crops and buildings have been destroyed in several places. Fires in the Huon district are also bfirning fiercely, 'and many properties are endangered. A sawmill and two houses were burnt out.
