DEFENCE CAMPS
TO THE Ee'xTOK.
Sir, —1 noticed in the ‘Star’ tonight a statement from the Hon. J. G. Cobbe relating to the numbers ol voluntary out! dfefence forces. 1 would like to know "how many of our leading wholesale establishments refuse to allow these willing recruits one week in the year to attend camp. 1 personally know boys who are keen volunteers, but who are going to give the tiling up, as it is useless to go on unless they can do the actual training, and thy.t is got only at camp. Without that ’ training promotion is very unlikely, and volunteer "lads are keen tor promotion. I hope you can put in a word for these lads, or if you are not able to do so the Minister himselt might take the matter up.—l am, etc., Volunteer’s Mother. January 15.-
