RIFLE SHOOTING
WEST TAIERI DEFENCE CLUB On Saturday the above club fired the second match of No. 4 competition, the conditions being ten shots at 300yds and 600yds. Owing to the poor visibility riflemen found difficulty in maintaining correct elevation. At 300yds Dep. Pres. H. W. Brookes 44, Rifleman A. W. Forbes, Rifleman R. Campbell, Rifleman D. G. Wyllie all with 43, secured the best scores. On going back to the longer range conditions were very much improved, and better scores resulted, both Rifleman A. W. Forbes and Rifleman W. J. Irving securing 46, the former taking -pride of place on the count back. Rifleman H. Fraser, Rifleman J. Dickie, and Rifleman D. G. Wyllie were the next best with 44 apiece. Rifleman A W. Forbes won both the handicap rifle and the aggregate button with the good scores of 89 off the riflo. Detailed scores with handicaps;— 300 600
