SOUTH, ISLAND TOURNAMENT [Pee United Press Association.] ASHBURTON, January 13. In the croquet championship doubles final Mrs Corbett (Dunedin) and Mrs Buchler (Dunedin) defeated H. A. Penn (Christchurch) arid Mrs Palmer (Christchurch) by 26-18 after a keen gariie. In the second round of the open sirigles G. Hart (Tiniafu) defeated Mrs Cnldow (Wellington) by default. In the semi-ring) R. W. M'Creath (Gore) defeated G. Hart (Timaru) 26-18, 26-18, arid in the final Mrs Corbett (Dunedin) beat M'Creath, 17-26, 20-12, 20-1. Light rain fell in the second. game and a heavy downpour fell all through the third, M'Creath retiring in Mrs Corbett’s favour.
