VINCENT J.C

QUITE SOON WINS THE MEMORIAL Excepting for a short gale of wind with a few drops of rain, the weather was fine for the opening day of the Vincent .Meeting' at Omakau on Saturday, and there was a very large attendance, the gate receipts being nearly £4O better than on the .corresponding day last year.) The course was in excellent order and carried a good sward of grass. The racing was interesting, but first favourites did not have the good run that they usually do at this fixture. The principal race, the Clare Memorial Handicap, was won all the way by the Oamaru-owned and trained mare Quite Soon, who‘returned the best dividend of the day. This was the second winner of the gold cup trained by J. Iloss. The totalisntor handled £3,401, as compared with £2,627 on the corresponding day last year. Detailed results:—
