Wingatui arrived last night from Auckland via east coast ports, and is timed to sail to-morrow for Timaru, Lyttelton, Picton, Wellington, and Auckland. Poolta is to leave Wellington on Friday for Bluff and Dunedin. She is duo on Tuesday to load on the same day for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton Wellington, Napier,. Gisborne, and Tauranga. ' Opihi arrived yesterday afternoon from Wellington and sailed late last night for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton. Wellington,'■ Nelson, and New Plymouth, She is due back on January 13 to load for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Westport. John has been delayed in the north owing to rain, and is now due from Port Waikato and Wellington on Sunday. PORT DENISON TO SAIL. Messrs 11. L. Tapley and Co. advise that the C. and D. vessel Port Denison, which arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday morning, is to sail at 6 a.m. to-morrow for London via Montevideo and Las Palnias.

She will later proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin to complete her discharge. NARBADA FOR AUCKLAND. The Narbada was expected at Auckland this morning from Calcutta and the East. She is to sail on Monday for Wellington; . Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin to complete discharging her cargo, and is due here about January. 16. 1 WAKAKURA AT LYTTELTON. The mine-sweeper Wakakura ; called at Lyttelton yesterday en route from Auckland to Dunedin. The Wakakura is due back at Lyttelton some time in March, and the annual sea training for ratings of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve, extending over two months, will be held. She is due at Dunedin tomorrow evening. BREEZE LEAVES PORT NATAL. The Canterbury Steam Shipping Company’s motor ship Breeze, en route from Glasgow ■ to New Zealand, cleared Port Natal on Sunday for Dunedin via Fremantle. The vessel- is due at. Dunedin in the last week of this month. INTERISLAND SERVICE. The interisland express steamer Wahine arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington at 6.40 a.m. to-day. Passengers and mail for the south connected with the express. WAIKOUAITI LOADING. The Waikouaiti left Sydney for Newcastle on Wednesday. She is to return to Sydney, and later proceed to Port Kembla to complete her loading for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru, and Lyttelton. MATAROA FROM LONDON. The Shaw, Savill Company’s liner Mataroa, from London and Southampton, ari-ived at Wellington last evening. The Mataroa will leave Wellington on Tuesday for Auckland to complete discharge of her London cargo, .and to commence Homeward loading. WAINUI FOR MELBOURNE. The Wainui left Wellington on Wednesday for Melbourne direct. She will leave the Victorian port on January 10 for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington, and is due at Dunedin on January 16. CORNWALL FROM LIVERPOOL. To continue discharge of her cargo from Glasgow and , Liverpool the Fedr; eral steamer Corhwall arrived■'■'at' TVtSlington last Monday -.afternoon from Auckland. She is to sail to-day for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff to complete discharge. • KIA ORA AT LONDON. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Kia Ora arrived at London on December 30 from New Zealand. The vessel left Auckland on November 13 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, and Glasgow via Cape Horn. PERSONAL. Captain G. A. Gray is in command of the Kiwitea, which has been recommissioned at Wellington. His deck officers are:—Chief, Mr E. A. Buckingham; second, Mr J. S. Beaton; third, Mr L. L. Clark. Captain W. A.. Gray has taken command of the Tamahine, relieving Captain R. M. Kane for further orders. Mr H. J. Petty has been appointed third officer of the Wainui, relieving lsr T. W. Germein, who.has been transferred to the Kini in a similar capacity, relieving Mr H. J. Kemp for holidays. . . Mr J. Dawson has joined the Karepo at Newcastle as chief officer, relieving Mr A. M. Lucas for holidays. Mr A. Tavlor has been engaged as first mate of the Inaha, relieving Mr K. Laverton. G. G. Herd and F. S. Johnson. AGROUND IN RIVER. [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, January 5. The scow Ngahau grounded on the north spit of the Waimakariri River again last night on a return trip from Banks Peninsula to Kaiapoi, and is still there. A further effort to get her off will be made this evening. The yisibility was very bad last night when the scow grounded, hut no damage was done, and her cargo of sheep will be unloaded this afternoon.
