The exchange market fluctuated widely throughout tire day and foreign currencies gained on the boost of the gold price, but the dollar rallied in Into trading and closed at 63.55 in terms of the franc, about half a cent up. Sterling and the franc closed slightly down at 5.181 and 61.6 respectively. Securities and commodities fluctuated with the dollar. Stock exchange prices were up fractionally to a few points in light trading. Wheat was up 1J to 2 and cotton 4 to 8 points.
