WHEAT PRODUCTION

QUESTION OF REDUCTION FRANCE'S EFFORTS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, November 28. A most encouraging feature of the conference of the Wheat Advisory Committee, which was concluded to-night, was a statement by a French representative outlining France’s efforts to reduce excessive production, including the posting of notices in every village in France urging the growing, of loss wheat with high milling content, and greater use of wheat for animal feeding. The value of this campaign can be understtod when it is realised that France’s 1933 crop was 330,000,000 bushels above the pre-war average. The committee exhaustively studied the latest production figures, and discussed the effects of the United States, Germany, and Hungary subsidising exports, on which there was some hostile comment. Two sub-committees were appointed, the first of which will consider market conditions and proposals arising from the problem of "\nnrt subsidies in consequence of the recent decrease in price. The second committee will meet in Paris to deal with tho possibility of increasing consumption. Both will report to the full conference on January 24. Contrary to expectations Russia has not introduced a claim to increase tho export quota of 37,000,000 bushels already allotted, which tends to confirm the recent impression that she may be unable to export even her quota allowance.
