COMPETITION IN EUROPE CONFERENCE URGES QUOTA Press Association— By Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, November 15. Although Italy and the United States abstained from voting, Britain, France, Switzerland, and Germany supported the London Silk Association’s resolution at the conference of tho International Silk Federation, urging Governments to impose a quota on real and artificial silk of Asiatic origin competing with European manufacturers, based on the average imports from Japan during the last three years. Delegates urged equalised conditions for production in all countries. Experts arc of the opinion that such quotas would be a severe blow to the Japanese industry.
