The following prisoners were sentenced by Mr Justice Herdman m the Supreme Court, Hamilton Edward Brimfield, aged forty-two, and Richard Thomas Carroll, aged thirty-nme, two years’ hard labour each, for breaking and entering and theft at Frankton; John Martin, a Maori, aged twentynine Tears, nine months’ hard labour, for theft from a dwelling at Mauugatautari; Arthur Benjamin Dawson, for carnal knowledge and indecent five years’ reformative detention. Invitations are being issued by the evocative of the New Zealand Legion to a large number of important public groups throughout the dominion to participate in a national unity movement. This announcement was _ made by Or Campbell Begg at a meeting last night. The aim of this latest action, it was stated, was the creation of a strong force of public opinion to carry through urgent measures for rehabilitation.
