YOUNG HELPERS' LEAGUE

Tho annual social tendered to the members of the Macandrew Road School branch of the Young Helpers’ League and friends was held in the school gymnasium on Tuesday evening. There were present Mrs W. Wright (president), who with Mrs Lethbridge, has provided tho social for several years, Miss Green (secretary), Mr J. Bowie (head master), and Mr A. T. M'lndoe (chairman of committee). The school staff and school committee were strongly represented, and a number of ladiofi by tbeir presence also showed their interest in tho work of the league. The boxes produced a collection of £i>. which has been forwarded to New Zealand headquarters, to bo transmitted to Dr Barnado’s Homes. Badges were awarded to Helen Mosley, Margaret Stevens, and Joyce Crawford, and a number of members were given tbeir boxes for 1934. The programme included musical items and recitations by J. Crawford, M. Ritchie, N. Binder, D. Leatbley, C. Wright. I. Ball, N. Cameron, H. Mosley, M. Wilson, J. Stevenson, ‘P. Stewart, L. Scott, K. Jordan, F. Burgess, N. Stevens, K. Shore, B. Wilson, and H. Wright; choruses by Standard V. and Standard VI. pupils; vocal and musical items by Mrs Rogers and Miss Bowie; games organised by Mr C. Bowie; and supper supplied by the patrons. Accompaniments were played by Mrs Clark, Mrs Rogers, and Miss Hendry. On the motion of Mr A. T. M'lndoo a vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Wright and to all who had assisted in providing a most enjoyable evening.
