SALE OF LONDON STREET SITES . The site in London street, originally selected as the site for the new maternity hospital, was ottered at auction today, the bids failing to reach the reserves. The sale was conducted by Messrs N. and E. S. Paterson.. Lot 1, of 19.3 poles, with a 50ft frontage to London street, was passed in at £750, after bidding, had started at £SOO. Lot 2, also fronting London street, with an area of 19.20 poles, rose from £6OO to £725, no sale resulting. The largest section (43 poles), with access to London street.. was also passed in at £750, and the adjoining section of 36.49 poles failed to elicit a bid further than the initial offer of £SOO.
A vacant section of nine poles at the corner of Hanover .and Grange streets was also offered. Bidding started at £2OO, and the property was passed in at £3OO.
