COASTGUARD CUTTERS FIRED ON ALLEGATIONS AGAINST BRITISH VESSEL. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright.
HELSINCFORS, October IG. A British vessel is alleged to have fired at two Finnish coastguard cutters whilo capturing two other ships accused of smuggling. One of the cutters, after discharging " blanks," returned the fire and gave chase, hut the British vessels escaped. It is understood that the Finnish Government takes a grave view of the alleged outrage, and serious repercussions are likclv.
