The Aorangi, which left Vancouver on October 11 for Suva. Auckland, and Sydney, is due at Auckland on October 29. THE PORT DUNEDIN. The Port Dunedin is to leave New York on October 30 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. FORDSDALE FROM LIVERPOOL. The Fordsdale is to leave Liverpool on Saturday with cargo from the west coast of Great Britain. She is due at Auckland about November 26, and will later proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and New Plymouth. MAUNGANUI AT WELLINGTON. The Maunganui arrived at Wellington from San Francisco via Papeete and Rarotonga yesterday morning. She was to sail this afternoon for Sydney. TRANSPACIFIC CARGO SERVICE. The Union Company has advised the following loadings ■at Pacific Coast ports for Dunedin: — Wainma.—Left Vancouver on October 4, San Francisco on October 10, and Los Angeles on October 13. SHIPBUILDING REVIVAL. “' The Union Company is reported to have placed a contract with-Alexander Stephen and Sons 'Ltd., Glasgow, for a cargo steamer 270 ft long. It is understood that the vessel is being specially built for tlie intercolonial cargo service between Melbourne and Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington, at present maintained by the Wainni, Tho new vessel will have a gross tonnage of about 2,000, and a deadweight carrying capacity of about 3,300 tons. It is reported in a London shipping journal that the Blue Star Line, which is to enter the New Zealand-England trade in November, intends to invite tenders for two fast refrigerated ships, and may follow this order with one for a further pair. Tho Huddart, Parker Company is also reported to be looking for another vessel, while the Adelaide Steamship Co. Ltd. intend, it is stated, to order in the near future a passenger liner for its Australian interstate services. THREE RECORDS FOR BRITANNIC. On arrival at Liverpool on June 11, the motor vessel Britannic established herself on a new footing, for she had then set up three new records. Leaving Now York on June 3 and Boston on June 4, she accomplished her Atlantic crossing in 5d 12h 12min, thus beating her previous best by 3h ' 14min. On her best day’s run she covered 452 miles. The total distance covered Jjv the motor ship, including calls at Galway and Cobh, was 2,519 miles, covered at an average speed of 19.054 knots, this being a record for the Britannic since she euteflfed the service three years ago. - Her third record was that she carried the biggest passenger complement seen so far this year—l,o43 travellers, cabin, tourist, and third class. It is also noted that, just at the end of May, the motor vessel Georgic completed her fastest east-bound run, the ocean crossing being accomplished in 6d 4h, at an average speed of 18.75 knots.
