' ISO. 3 DEPOT The No. 3 relief depot will be closed down at the end of October, and will bo open on Tuesday mornings only from 10 o’clock till noon for fuel orders and to receive instalments. ST. HILDA CONCERT A bright and varied programme wa» presented in the St. Kilda Coronation Hall bv Mr A. Fraser’s Majestic Orchestra" and party in aid of the unemployment funds. Every item was well received by an appreciative audience. Mr Tom Scofield, as chairman, earned out his duties with marked ability. The items were as follow: —Orchestral selection, Fraser’s Majestic Orchestra,; with xylophone solos by Mr Andrew. Fraser; vocal solo, Miss Dorothy Sligo, Irish jie, Miss Pat Atkinson; tettor solo Mr Ernest Pans; humorous sketch, Ivan and Harold Davidson; waltz clog, Miss Rita Warren; cornet solo Mr Arthur Bolton; vocal solo. Miss Noni Davidson; ballet_ dance, Misses P. and K. Eckhoff and party; baritone solo, Mr W. Ruffell; saxophone isolo, Mr Jim Murray. Every artist I responded to a hearty encore. The acI companiments were capably played by I Miss Muriel Caddie and Fraser s Orchestra, PORT CHALMERS relief committee appointed At a public meeting in the Town Hall, Port Chalmers, last night it was decided to form a local relief committee, consisting of two councillors, three members of the Ministers’ Association, and Mr T. Anderson, the mayor to act on the committee ex officio. The mayor (Mr J. Watson) presided. He stated that money received by mm from art unions for the relief of distress had been distributed by him m small amounts to people in need, irrespective of whether they were relief workers. There was distress other than amongst the unemployed. The account of what money he had handled in that way had been carefully kept, and the accounts audited. He would be pleased for tho committee to relieve him of the handling of such funds.
