ANDERSON'S BAY GLEE CLUB

ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME PRESENTED A most attractive and highly diverting programme was presented by the Anderson’s Bay Glee Club at its annual concert in the Cameron Hall on Saturday night, the club being assisted by several well-known local artists. A high standard of performance was maintained throughout, and the approval of the large audience was indicated in no uncertain terms. “ Land of Hope and Glory ” was sung by the club, ihe audience |oming in the refrain for the last verse, and the club followed this with a bracket of part songs, ‘ Gather Ye Rosebuds' and ‘ Still as the Night,’ both of which were appreciatively received. Miss Bertha Eawlinson was heard to excellent advantage in Handel’s ‘ How Changed the Vision,’ and the Glee Club followed with another part song ‘Daybreak’ (Eaton Faning). The Regal Four (Misses Price and Rawlinson, and Messrs M'Donald and Rawlinson) gave two vocal quartets, ‘ Solomon Levy ’ and * Ring Dom Bells’ most pleasingly, and Mr D. E. Dali gave a striking performance of Antony’s oration over the body of Caesar. The club's performance of ‘The Snow (Elgar), with a string accompaniment by Mrs Thomson, Mrs Angus, and Mr R. Watson, was very well done, and the club also rendered ‘The Song of Thor ’ (J. H. Maunder} very attractively. Mr Alfred Walmsley sang * The secret ’ and ‘ When Other Lips ’ delightfully, and Miss Bertha Rawlinson gave a most enjoyable rendering of the Hebridean melody, ‘ Kishmul’s Galley,’ arranged by Kennedy-Fraser. The glee ‘ Humpty Dumpty ’ by the club was a popular item, and the two part songs 1 The Blue-eyed Lass ’ and ‘ To Sylvia ’ were generously appreciated. Other part songs rendered by the club were ‘Hymn to Music’ (Dudley Buck}, ‘The Vesper Bell’ (Phillipps) and ‘The Singers ’ (Gaul). Mr D. E. Dali’s second _ number was a most enjoyable recitation, ‘ A Clerical Error ’ (Sterne). The Glee Club in its part songs and other items was under the capable direction of the conductor, Mr H. Coop, and the accompanists were Mrs Alfred Walmsley, Miss Marjorie M'Adam. and Miss Alice Wilson.
