TRADE UNIONS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Regarding the gagging tactics referred to by “ Pro Bono Publico,” I would like to inform him that the same goes .on at other unions. I would also. like to ask why men should be compelled to pay into a union, under the present heavy taxes. Surely a man lias, enough to pay without having to support professional agitators or secretaries, who will employ a firm of lawyers who threaten to sue for contributions which workers cannot pay. What is the yearly income of some of these secretaries! that is being ground out of the workers, and have, the unions made'any reductions since the cut? I would like to know the bank balance of some of the unions. I am told some have over £3,000. ’Also, how many voted money to help the Queen Carnival? —I am, etc., ' N.P, September 22.
